Ugam is an ideal starting point for discovering of mountains of Western Tien-Shan and its rich flora and fauna.
Ugam region is a highland, which is a spur of Western Tien-Shan. Unique natural systems here are amazingly combined with historical monuments of medieval culture of The Great Silk Road.
There are such species of animals and plants as marmot Menzbira, golden eagle, tien-shan brown bear, which are recorded in The Red Book of Kazakhstan.
More than 1,250 species of plants grow in the park, 47 of which are recorded in The Red Book of Kazakhstan.
There are a lot of cultural, historical and natural sights in Ugam region. There are ancient Saka barrows and sacred places in Kaskasu village, there are a lot of legends and real historical events, connected with them. History revives in many traditional crafts, survived here, where you can buy souvenirs in memory of these places.
From here you can make a fascinating journey to Turkestan, which is located 3 hours away from Kaskasu village. The grand mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi in Turkestan is the main object for Muslim pilgrims in Kazakhstan and the most remarkable historical building.
Horseback riding
Horseback riding to scenic gorges is a great opportunity to make a fascinating journey.
Horses for one day and many days excursions are available for rent from local people, who will kindly provide them to you for a small fee. Horseback riding is conducted with trained guides.
Hiking tours
For those, who like hiking there are excursions of different categories of difficulty, conducted to picturesque places, accompanied by professional guides.
Field equipment, which can be taken to the camp, is provided to experienced travelers for rent.
Comfortable guest houses in Kaskasu, Nysanbek and Dikhankol villages are always ready to take you with great warmth and hospitality.
Local people are pleased to introduce you to their usual life and national traditions. Here you will be warmly greeted and fed with dishes of local cuisine.

How to get there
From Almaty
By train. Several trains run between Almaty and Shymkent cities on the daily basis. At the station you will be met by guide with personal car, who will bring you to the place of destination in 30 minutes.
By bus. Busses depart from Sairan bus station (Almaty city) every day from 19:00 to 21:30, and arrive to the bus station of Shymkent city at 9:00 in the morning the next day. At the station you will be met by guide with personal car, who will bring you to the place of destination in 30 minutes.
Kaskasu and Dikhankol villages are located 30 kilometers away from the city of Lenger.
